Casting Off: Tudor Sets Sail with Pelagos FXD and Pelagos FXD Chrono „Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition“

Mar 30, 2024

Commemorating its partnership with Alinghi Red Bull Racing established last year, Tudor introduces two brand new Pelagos FXD models, both inspired by and designed for sailing: a chronograph and a time-only watch. The Pelagos FXD and the Pelagos FXD Chrono boast a composite carbon case with a dark matte finish and titanium and stainless steel elements, which is inspired by the design of the hydrofoil AC75 (America’s Cup 75). The use of a carbon case is a first for Tudor. Water-resistant to 200 meters, it features a bidirectional titanium bezel with a black carbon disc and 60-minute graduation.

The matte blue dials mirror the color scheme of the AC75, while their red-tipped seconds hands reference the hue of the Alinghi Red Bull Racing team. The chronograph totalizers likewise stand out as they are outlined in bright red. A discreet “Alinghi Red Bull Racing” is highlighted on the 45° flange between the 10 and 2 o’clock markers. The characteristic square hour indices and “Snowflake” hands, designed by Tudor in the 1960s, are made of luminescent monobloc ceramic, which guarantees optimal readability in challenging environments.

As the FXD addition suggests, both newcomers are equipped with the fixed lug bar design, which holds the high-quality blue textile strap developed by French specialist Julien Faure. It sports a hook-and-loop closure with red accents.

The Pelagos FXD comes with a diameter of 42mm and is driven by Tudor’s genuine caliber MT5602, which boasts a power reserve of 70 hours, a non magnetic, high-performance silicon balance spring and a C.O.S.C. chronometer certificate for proven precision. Pricing is marked at $3,675.

Completely new to this collection is the Pelagos FXD Chrono, which features a 43mm case and Tudor’s MT5813 automatic movement. Like the time-only MT5602 it offers a power reserve of 70 hours, a C.O.S.C. certificate and a silicon balance spring. However, it adds chronograph functions and a date indication at 6 o’clock.

Pricing is marked at $5,075.
