An 0800 (Freephone) number is the ultimate in customer service. These are always the first numbers to be dialled when people are looking for your goods and services from a directory. The call is free to the caller.

These calls are charged at 5p per minute and are a good alternative to replace an 0870 number. Legislation is coming into force in January 2008 that will stop the payment of a revenue share to companies operating 0870 numbers and the companies will instead be charged for their inbound calls on the same basis as an 0800 number. 0844 numbers are not affected and revenue sharing will still be permitted.  They are much more customer friendly than 0870 numbers which discourage callers.

You use a different one for each of your sales/advertising techniques and campaigns and we produce a monthly report of the source of inbound sales calls allowing you to target your sales and marketing budget most effectively. These calls are charged at 10p per minute. We recommend these numbers for technical support lines as they will pay you a revenue helping to cover the costs of providing technical support. We do not recommend these numbers for main numbers as they will discourage sales calls. Forthcoming legislation will reclassify 0871 numbers as 'premium rate numbers' and they will be brought under the control of ICSTIS and a pre-call announcement will be required to inform the caller of the charges.
