Vesuvius has launched WondaWeb - it's own online website design and creation tool. This is based on the same technology that Vesuvius uses to create quality websites for its clients.

BT increase call connection charges
BT now has a 4.5p (ex VAT) connection charge at the beginning of each call on its standard business tariff (except for calls to 08 and 09 numbers which have a 5p (ex VAT) minimum call charge). This combined with their rates of 4p per minute for a local call and an incredible 8p per minute for a national call mean that business call costs are continuing to rise, with shorter calls and faxes becoming extremely expensive. The current wholesale rate negotiated by Vesuvius for local and national calls is 0.88p per minute (a saving of 78% on local calls and 89% on national calls). On its Intelligent Telephony service, Vesuvius covers its costs purely from the 4.5p connection charge.
Residential customers have seen a 6p (inc VAT) connection charge added to the cost of each call as well as a switch from per-second to per-minute billing meaning that call costs are rounded up to the nearest minute. The peak rate for a local or national call has also increased from 3p (inc VAT) to 3.25p (inc VAT). Tesco and other providers have also followed suit. As a result of this Vesuvius is now expanding into the residential marketplace as the savings that can now be made are extremely worthwhile.

0870 deadline looms
The OFCOM legislation affecting all 0870 numbers comes into force in January 2008. Businesses that currently do not pay inbound call charges or receive a revenue share on their inbound calls via these numbers will find that their revenue stream will be replaced by a charge (similar to that for 0800 numbers). The cost of a call to an 0870 number will be the same as the cost of a standard national call. Vesuvius is currently advising companies locally on a migration strategy to phase out their 0870 number and replace it with a suitable alternative (i.e. 0800, 0845, 0844 or 0871) depending on their requirements.
